Travellers heading to the Lake District may expect their interactions with nature to include bird-watching or spotting deer. But a hotel in England is changing that by giving guests an opportunity to do yoga with lemurs.

Armathwaite Hall, a luxury hotel and spa in the Lake District, is located on 400 acres of woodland and deer park near Keswick. While lemurs are not typically found in the UK’s most popular national park, the hotel is adjoined to the Lake District Wildlife Park, which is home to a number of different animals.

Armathwaite Hall runs a number of wellness programs, but the one that has recently caught the world’s attention is “Lemoga”, or doing yoga with lemurs. As the trend of doing yoga with goats, cats and more continues to grow, it’s unsurprising that this has sparked interest.

The hotel explains “for yoga newbies as well as seasoned yogis looking to try something new, lemurs make great workout partners, helping to reduce stress and blood pressure in humans just by being in their presence. It is even thought that a small lemur-like creature may have been an early ancestor of humans.”

Lemoga is just one of the hotel’s “meet the wildlife” programmes, which also includes walking with alpacas. Carolyn Graves, owner of Armathwaite Hall said in a statement that “Lemoga offers our guests the chance to feel at one with nature, at the same time joining in with the lemurs’ play time.”
